Missy Andersen and SouthLand Soul
A dynamic one-of-a-kind soul and blues singer, Missy Andersen began singing on stage at age 6 when her mother entered her in a talent contest. Missy never looked back. She began singing professionally while still in her teens. In the late 1990s she worked as a member of the Juke Joint Jezebelles backing San Diego blues singer Earl Thomas in a repertoire of gospel, blues, and soul. She toured the U.S. and Europe with Thomas as the band shared the stage with Ray Charles, B.B. King, Robert Cray and others.
In launching her solo career in 2009, Missy was voted Best New Artist-Female by Real Blues Magazine and her self-titled CD, Missy Andersen, won Best Debut Album-Female that same year.
