Gilbert Castellanos Latin Jazz

A top-call trumpeter on the international jazz scene, San Diego’s Gilbert Castellanos serves as series curator for San Diego Symphony’s two jazz series: Jazz @ The Jacobs and Thursday Night Jazz. His 2016 Embarcadero tribute to “Mambo King” Tito Puente earned rave reviews and accolades. “It might just have been the “feel good” concert of the year,” concluded television station KNSD.

Look for a reprise of that performance on the Spreckels Park stage as Castellanos teams up with pianist Irving
Flores and an all-star lineup of Latin jazz players. This hot salsa orchestra will present some of the greatest Latin Jazz standards of all time. Just try to stay still for this concert.
